This last decade, Thibaut Garcia has established himself as one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation. He is now performing in the finest halls and festivals around the world: Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie Berlin, Verbier Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Luxemburg Philharmonie, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Palau de Musica in Barcelona.

A regular guest of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse since 2016, Thibaut Garcia premiered Benjamin Attahir’s concerto El Bihr there in 2023. He has also collaborated with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the BBC orchestras, the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Bordeaux, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Orchestre National d’Ile de France, Losz Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de Metz, the Orchestre National de Lyon… He has performed alongside conductors such as Roberto González-Monjas, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Gergely Madaras, Alondra de la Parra, Antonio Mendes and Pierre Bleuse.

In chamber music, Thibaut Garcia performs with Edgar Moreau, Elsa Dreisig, Marianne Crebassa, Lucienne Renaudin-Vary, Félicien Brut, Anastasia Kobekina, the Quatuor Arod… He also forms duets with Philippe Jaroussky, as well a guitar duet with Antoine Morinière – their first collaboration album, dedicated to Bach’s Goldberg Variations was released in the autumn of 2025 with Erato/Warner Classics, and followed by a long European tour.

Highlights of this same year include a carte blanche at the Philharmonie de Paris, “Guitarmania”, an event dedicated to the guitar and his ambassadors. He is also the main guest of the episode “Barrios: Chopin of the giuitar”, a documentary of the series “Now hear this” broadcast on the US channel PBS.

After the world premiere of his live performance “Sept Larmes pour Elisabeth” [Seven Tears for Elisabeth], co-created with Aure Wachter and Aurélien Bory at the Montpellier Danse Festival, the 2026-2027 season sees the return of this project, which poetically blends dance and music, notably at the Philharmonie de Paris. Thibaut Garcia also resumes his Goldberg Variations alongside Antoine Morinière for several tours in Japan, in Europe and in the USA. He is also in concerto with the Orchestre National de Toulouse Capitole, the National Symphony Orchestra Ireland and the San Francisco-based Zephyr Symphony Orchestra.

Thibaut Garcia has been a Warner Classics/Erato artist since 2016. After Leyendas in 2016, Bach Inspirations in 2018, Aranjuez in 2020 (Choc de Classica, Diapason d'Or, Gramophone Editor's Choice), À sa guitare in duet with Philippe Jaroussky in 2021, El Bohemio (an homage Agustin Barrios, Diapason d’Or) in 2023.

First prize winner of the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America (USA) competition in 2015, BBC New Generation Artist (2017-2019), « Révélation Instrumentale » of the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2019, and laureate of the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival (WEMAG soloist in 2023), Thibaut Garcia trained at the Toulouse Conservatory before Paris Conservatoire.

    Ausgehend von John Dowlands Seaven teares – eine Variation seines berühmten Flow my teares – bringen Thibaut Garcia und Aure Wachter unter der Regie von Aurélien Bory ein Projekt auf die Bühne, das die Klänge der Gitarre mit der Ausdruckskraft des Tanzes vereint.

    „Musik und Tanz sind grundlegend miteinander verbunden – es ist unmöglich zu bestimmen, was zuerst da war – vielmehr sind sie untrennbar miteinander verwoben: Musik ist Tanz, Tanz ist Musik. Ausgehend von dieser ursprünglichen Beziehung stellt sich die Begegnung von Aure und Thibaut auf der Bühne dar, indem ihre Künste buchstäblich miteinander verbunden werden – Aure in Richtung Musik und Thibaut in Richtung Tanz.

    John Dowland hat in Seaven teares das Motiv der Tränen in sieben Pavanen entfaltet und so durch die Variation eines Liedes sein charakteristisches Werk geschaffen. In Anlehnung an Dowland greifen Thibaut Garcia und Aure Wachter ihrerseits das Motiv der Tränen auf. Mit Gitarre, Gesang, Tanz und Raum verfolgen sie denselben Ansatz: eine Form nicht festschreiben, sondern sie wie eine Flüssigkeit den gesamten ihr gewidmeten Raum einnehmen lassen.“ (Aurélien Bory)
