Two guitars, two extraordinary musicians

On Sunday, Thibaut Garcia and Antoine Morinière thrilled the audience at the Rheingau Music Festival with an impressive interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations—arranged for two guitars.
The Hr2 Frühkritik states:
"Two guitars and two exceptional artists – that’s all it takes to bring Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations to life."
"This was top-level performance, and the two truly played as one."
"The sonic experience was transformed: by distributing harmonies and melodies across two instruments, the individual components of each movement became much easier to distinguish, adding depth and clarity to the overall texture."

"Two guitars, two artists playing them with four hands – and yet, in the sold-out Laiendormitorium of Kloster Eberbach, it feels as if you're listening to a single instrument. Their masterful interpretation of BWV 988 – a work that has accompanied the two close friends ever since they met 15 years ago – clearly springs from a shared musical mind and emotional understanding."
"It was clearly the intention and desire of the two artists that their playing not be perceived as that of a duo, but rather as a single musical entity. At times, one almost has the impression of listening to a simple two-part texture. Garcia and Morinière play with great delicacy, yet are fully capable of delivering rich polyphony when the music calls for it."
