Kristīne and Margarita Balanas have signed with Decca Classics

The Balanas Sisters – violinist Kristīne and cellist and conductor Margarita – have signed with the major lable “Decca Classics”.
The two sisters began their musical journey by busking on the streets. Today, they perform on the world’s most prestigious stages – individually and as a duo.
Helen Rogers, executive producer at Decca Classics, about the sisters: “I was utterly captivated from the first note – their performance of Vasks’ Castillo Interior had such pristine clarity and deeply moving humanity. Their story is equally impressive, and we are thrilled to welcome these two formidable women to our roster at Decca Classics.” (The Strad, 03 October 2025)
Kristīne and Margarita Balanas are equally excited about the signing:
"We’re overjoyed to join the Decca Classics family. This is more than a signing for us; it is a chance to push boundaries and tell our story through music.” (The Violin Channel, 03 October 2025)
And further: “For us, music has always been about freedom and finding our own voice, breaking a few rules, and discovering new ways to connect with people from all over the world. Signing with Decca gives us the chance to reimagine classical music for a new generation – full of energy, playfulness and a vision of what’s ahead.” (PalabasTayo, 04 October 2025)
To celebrate the signing, the sisters have released their first duo album on 03 October 2025: “Castillo Interior”. The album presents spiritual works by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, the title of the piece refers to the main work of Teresa of Ávila “The Interior Castle” from 1577, in which she discusses the mystical marriage as the highest form of spiritual experience.
