On Friday, October 31, 2025, soprano Julia Lezhneva performed with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie under the direction of Josep Pons, presenting the first studio concert of the season in Saarbrücken. The program was given under the motto “Music at European Courts.”

Lezhneva sang Handel’s “Rejoice greatly” from Messiah, as well as Mozart’s “Ei parte” from Così fan tutte and “Parto, parto” from La clemenza di Tito. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause and was rewarded with an encore—Mozart’s “Voi che sapete” from Le nozze di Figaro.

In the Saarbrücker Zeitung of November 3, 2025, a review noted:

“Like an angel, soprano Julia Lezhneva sang her arias with coloratura, in highs and lows, with perfect technique, clear tone, and passionate drama.”

Jan Brachmann wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on November 3, 2025:

“Perhaps everything that can be said about the singer Julia Lezhneva has already been said when one notes that she is vocally one of the greatest wonders of the world since Cecilia Bartoli. Already in the rhetorical sense with which she sings the opening words of Handel’s ‘Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice greatly!’ — she shapes this tricolon of exclamations as a climax, rushing ecstatically over the word ‘greatly’! It is a precise understanding of rhetorical devices that she brings to life in a charismatic way.”

The concert is available for replay on SR Kultur and in the ARD Audiothek.
