Gramophone magazine has described him as 'a prince among baroque violinists'. His interpretations are characterised by great passion and an introspective approach full of imagination and freedom.

Born in Treviso, he studied violin with his father and then with Luigi Ferro, Nathan Milstein and Franco Gulli at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.

He began his career as a soloist under the baton of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Eliahu Inbal, Peter Maag and Giuseppe Sinopoli, and went on to work with many renowned conductors and instrumental ensembles on both early instruments and modern orchestras in Europe and around the world.

Since then he has performed regularly with Michelangeli, Gatti, Marcon, Hogwood, Pinnock, Bolton, Norrington, Egarr, Antonini, Dantone, Brüggen, Koopman and the major European baroque and classical orchestras.

Dedicated to the Baroque and Classical repertoire, he is one of the most important interpreters of the music of Vivaldi, a composer to whom he has dedicated several recordings that are now references.

Most of his numerous recordings have been made for Sony Classical and Deutsche Grammophon, and many of his recordings have won awards.

His latest recordings were made with the Arcana-Outhere Music label, with which he has several recording projects.

His recent recording, "6 Suites a violoncello Solo senza Basso" by J.S. Bach (transcriptions for violin) - Arcana-Outhere Music France 2021 - was awarded the Editor's Choice of Grammophone (2022).

His new recording " The Three Seasons of Antonio Vivaldi ", a triple CD with the Accademia dell'Annunciata, has been released (Arcana, Outhere Music - Sept 2023) and has received great reviews.

For several years, in parallel with his concert activity, he taught at the Chigiana Music Academy in Siena and at the Hochschule in Lucerne.

He is an Academician of the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Bologna and an Academician of Santa Cecilia.
