On August 3, 2025, the piano duo Tal & Groethuysen returned to the Bachwoche Ansbach and was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. Since their first appearance in 2003, they have performed five times on this prestigious stage. This year’s program was dedicated exclusively to arrangements for two pianos. With works by Bach and Mozart, the duo presented artfully crafted arrangements that demanded the highest level of technical and interpretive skill – which they mastered with impressive ease.

In the Fränkische Landeszeitung on August 5, 2025, Sabine Kreimendahl wrote:

“The 'Brandenburg' resonates wonderfully on the two large Steinways, allowing – in contrast to Max Reger’s four-hand version on one piano – a tonal correspondence to the original in the middle register. It is a successful, delicate opening with transparency in the voice leading, fine dynamics, agogic structure and choice of tempo – an accurate ‘Concertare’ of this orchestral duo.”

“Tal & Groethuysen reach the musical and pianistic summit in Gino Tagliapietra’s transcription of Bach’s Passacaglia in C minor, BWV 582. The famous, brilliant, and moving ostinato evolves – through virtuosic playing – into a thundering climax.”
