"300 Years of Solitude", a programme that Sergey Malov has been presenting with great success on international stages for years, is now also available on a EuroArts / Warner Classics CD (here), referring to the three sonatas and partitas for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1001-1006), in the original title “Sei Solo”. One of the highlights is certainly the Partita in D minor (BWV 1004) with its famous chaconne at the end, which leads to a second interpretation of the title: “300 years of Solitude” stands for him as the heading above this monumental movement, with which Bach came to terms with the death of his first wife, according to Sergey Malov. Listen to Malov's interpretation here.
