New General Management: Ruben Gazarian
We are delighted to announce that we have taken over the worldwide general management of Ruben Gazarian.
“Gazarian’s absolute control repeatedly demonstrated that his ensemble can master every sonic and stylistic category: from luxuriantly unfolding a voluminous soundscape to delivering strictly vertical structures with clearly defined lines.”
— Simon Scherer, Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, 2016
Ruben Gazarian has long been one of the defining conductors of his generation. Since the 2020/2021 season he has served as General Music Director of Theater Altenburg Gera, a position recently extended until 2027. Since 2024 he has also been Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Israel Chamber Orchestra in Tel Aviv.
Previously, he led the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn for sixteen years and was honoured with the city’s Gold Medal for his achievements. He also shaped the profile of the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt during his six-year tenure.
As a guest conductor, he collaborates regularly with renowned orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Numerous broadcasters have recorded his performances.
Originally trained as a violinist, he later devoted himself fully to conducting. In 2002 he was awarded a prize at the first Solti Conducting Competition. A substantial discography reflects his stylistic range.
We look forward to working together and to many inspiring projects ahead.
