Julien Chauvin and Le Concert de la Loge Captivate Audiences with “Battle Vivaldi” at the Kölner Philharmonie
On 31 October 2026, Julien Chauvin and his ensemble Le Concert de la Loge presented “Battle Vivaldi” together with the hip-hop dance company Käfig as part of the In-Motion Festival at the Kölner Philharmonie.
At the heart of the performance were Antonio Vivaldi’s famous Four Seasons, reimagined through an extraordinary combination of Baroque music and urban dance.
With his virtuosic and rhythmically striking violin playing, Chauvin brought a particular intensity to the works, while Le Concert de la Loge impressed with an energetic interpretation rich in accents and musical colour. The choreographies of Compagnie Käfig responded precisely to the musical impulses, creating a vibrant dialogue between classical music and hip-hop through their exuberant vitality.
In the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger of 2 November 2026, Markus Schwering wrote:
“‘Everyone knows this music – we give it an innovative new face,’ Chauvin had announced in an interview with the newspaper – and that promise was fulfilled in every respect before a well-attended and enthusiastic audience.”
“Once again, the attempt to bring these contrasting worlds together in a productive way proved successful. The friction did not lead to wear and tear, but generated a heat that inspired both sides in a positive way.”
