“Dolcissimo sospiro” Philippe Jaroussky & Angélique Mauillon Enchant Wiesbaden

On September 4, 2025, countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and harpist Angélique Mauillon presented a remarkable concert as part of the Rheingau Musik Festival at the Wiesbaden Ringkirche. Their program was equally sensuous: with meltingly beautiful arias and madrigals by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Giulio Caccini, Jacopo Peri, and Francesco Cavalli, the two artists transported the audience into the sonorous world of early Baroque music.
In the Frankfurter Neue Presse on September 6, 2025, Stefan Michalzik wrote:
"He combines the intimate, restrained quality of song—speaking directly to the listener—with a striking gestural clarity. Each song becomes a cosmos in itself. Whether expressing painful longing or a comic touch, every nuance comes across vividly, grounded in an intense reading of the text. With extraordinary attentiveness to the singer, Angélique Mauillon embodies an almost exemplary art of accompaniment."
Stefan Schickhaus wrote in the Frankfurter Rundschau on September 6, 2025:
"By now, this so genuinely charming singer is more than well-known and firmly established; in his countertenor field, he occupies a leading position, particularly when it comes to agility, vitality, expressive detail, and radiant brilliance."
"Jaroussky’s alto weaves around the harp’s foundation—caressing it, exquisitely tasteful."
