Concerto Köln Wins Edison Klassiek 2026 with “Pantheon – Corelli’s Orbit”

Concerto Köln and violinist Evgeny Sviridov have been awarded the Edison Klassiek 2026 in the “Klassiek Orkest” category for their album Pantheon – Corelli’s Orbit.

The prestigious Edison Klassiek is awarded by an independent jury of experts to musical productions of outstanding artistic quality. It is regarded as the highest distinction in the Dutch music industry and ranks among the world's oldest music awards, alongside the Grammy Awards. Also nominated in the same category were the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Klaus Mäkelä with Mahler 8 and the Estonian Festival Orchestra under Paavo Järvi with Arvo Pärt: Credo.

Released on 27 March 2026 by Berlin Classics, the album explores the musical world of the Italian Baroque composer Arcangelo Corelli and his European network of pupils, admirers and rivals. Through works by Corelli and composers from his musical circle, Concerto Köln paints a multifaceted picture of European Baroque music and its diverse musical connections.

The jury writes: “Concerto Köln offers listeners a glimpse of the ‘heavenly’. Dynamic phrasing and the musicians’ seemingly inexhaustible freshness ensure that this interpretation of the sometimes homogeneous Baroque musical idiom never becomes dull. Furthermore, the coherent choice of repertoire reinforces the image of Corelli as a teacher.” (Source: NPO Klassiek)
