Andrea Marcon Conducted at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe
As part of the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, the Italian conductor and harpsichordist Andrea Marcon conducted the festival concert of the Deutsche Händel-Solisten for the first time. The program included works by George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, and Francesco Maria Veracini, as well as opera arias performed by soprano Benedetta Zanotto and countertenor Andrea Gavagnin.
Karl Georg Berg wrote on March 9, 2026, in Die Rheinpfalz:
“A long-overdue debut took place at the festival concert of the Deutsche Händel-Solisten. At last Andrea Marcon conducted at the festival. The Italian conductor and harpsichordist is among the foremost Baroque and Handel interpreters of our time—and with furious performances that were absolutely coherent in themselves, he confirmed this in the best possible way at his Karlsruhe concert.”
In Badische Neueste Nachrichten, Manfred Kraft wrote on March 9, 2026:
“Here the two voices united in the most beautiful harmony with the excellently spirited Händel-Solisten, who had in Andrea Marcon a convincing and highly committed leader.”
