On 9 and 10 February 2026, Sergey Malov performed with the Augsburger Philharmoniker in the Kongresssaal, which was sold out on both evenings.

The concert was a tribute to the 270th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: In the first half, the overture to Ascanio in Alba and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Cello Concerto in A major were performed, connected by a specially composed harpsichord and cello da spalla transition. This was followed by Mozart’s Symphony No. 38, the “Prague”. In the second half, the “Rondo” from the “Haffner” Serenade was heard, followed—performed with large forces—by Tchaikovsky’s Suite No. 4, Op. 61, “Mozartiana”.

In an article in the Augsburger Allgemeine dated 10 February 2026, Stefan Dosch wrote:

“Sergey Malov conducted with graceful, flowing gestures.”

“Most impressively, Malov is able to present the cello da spalla in the slow movement; here, in the sighing downward steps of seconds, the instrument unfolds qualities that are virtually speech-like.”

“Even Mozart would have applauded such a belated birthday gift.”
