Danced confusion of emotions

“BachBewegt!Tanz!” is an innovative dance project by the International Bach Academy Stuttgart, held annually since 2013. Initiated by choreographer Friederike Rademann, it brings together young people from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, connecting them with Baroque music through interpretive dance performances of classical works.
The project aims to provide young participants with a direct, emotional access to musical masterpieces. Over the course of several months of rehearsals, music becomes a physical experience that resonates deeply with both performers and audiences. The current production, titled “Gefühlsgewirr” (“Emotional Turmoil”), presents works by Bach, Händel, Vivaldi, Purcell, Zelenka, and others in the form of a Baroque pasticcio that reflects the emotional world and lived experiences of today’s youth.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Gaechinger Cantorey under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann, featuring countertenor Valer Sabadus. Performances took place on February 21 and 22, 2025, at the Forum am Schlosspark in Ludwigsburg.
"Two girls break away from a group of ten to perform a pas de deux, while star countertenor Valer Sabadus joins the Gaechinger Cantorey, who, in the semi-sunken orchestra pit, evoke a Baroque atmosphere with historically informed instruments—playing with striking clarity, yet always lively and richly colored, creating an overall captivating and emotionally stirring performance. With his crystal-clear, alpine-lake soprano, Sabadus gives voice to sorrow in a weightlessly floating, expansively phrased legato of deepest expression."
