"Petar Pejčić is one of the greatest cello talents I have heard in the last ten years. He is already a remarkable artist." (Friedemann Eichhorn)

Praised as "a wonderful musician with an impressive sense of storytelling" (Le Soir), Petar Pejčić stands at the forefront of the new generation of classical musicians. The winner of the YCAT auditions in 2025, he was selected as an ECHO Rising Star 2026–27 and will perform in 21 of the programme's 22 partner venues in the coming season, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

Born into a musical family, Petar began playing the cello at the age of four in his native Belgrade. At fifteen he moved to Leipzig to continue his studies with the renowned pedagogue Prof. Peter Bruns — a step that laid the foundation for an international career. His selection as the youngest finalist at the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2022, where he was awarded the 5th Prize, brought him to immediate prominence. The following year he won 2nd Prize at the Paulo Cello Competition 2023. He is currently continuing his studies at the Kronberg Academy with the legendary Prof. Frans Helmerson.

Recent highlights include his UK debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and his debut in South Korea with the Korean Chamber Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center. As a soloist he appears regularly with leading orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Grazer Philharmoniker, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie.

As a chamber musician, Petar performs with artists such as James Baillieu, Janine Jansen, Friedemann Eichhorn, Giovanni Sollima, Martin Helmchen and Florian Uhlig. Beyond the concert hall, he is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration — most notably through his work with choreographer Jacopo Godani and the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, exploring new connections between music and movement.

Petar has been supported by prestigious scholarships from the arteMusica Foundation, the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein, the Stiftung Freunde Junger Musiker, the Dr. Hübner Foundation and the Peter Klöckner Foundation (Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben). He is the inaugural recipient of the J & A Beare Bursary (2023/24) and was accepted into the Swiss Career Advancement Programme in 2024.

Petar performs on a cello by Giuseppe Guarneri "filius Andreae" dated 1694, generously on loan from Beare's International Violin Society, and on a cello by Stephan von Baehr (Paris 2012), kindly entrusted to him by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
