  • David Garrett in concert in Bad Kissingen

David Garrett and Julien Quentin (piano) delight listeners and critics with works by César Franck and Fritz Kreisler, among others, at the recital concert in Bad Kissingen.

    Mainpost – October 25th, 2016 (by Elke Tober-Vogt)

" The two sides to David Garrett"

The violinist who was celebrated like a pop star in the Max-Littmann Saal chose César Franck’s “Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major” to begin the evening’s chamber music program he entitled “The Soundtrack of my Life”. He took everyone aback with his utterly atmospheric interpretation that ranged from surreal morbidity to excessive passion. Ashen tones on the one side, opulence on the other, moments of poignant simplicity alternating with subtly-dosed virtuosity – Garrett demonstrated that he can fulfill his own claim: “It’s only possible to make music freely when technique no longer stands in the way”

  • David Garrett delights with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in Lucerne

David Garrett performed in Lucerne as soloist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and presented the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 35 by Peter Tchaikovsky. Under the baton of Juanio Mena on March 17th, 2017 in the sold-out concert hall of the KKL Lucerne, the violin star demonstrated his virtuosity and wowed the audience. In addition to the violin concerto, Garrett's encore in which the orchestra accompanied him with pizzicati like a large guitar, received particular applause. Critics were equally delighted by the concert and in particular by Garrett's interpretation of Tchaikovsky.

Violin star David Garrett  performed on March 16th with the Sinfonieorchester Basel under the baton of conductor Dennis Russell Davies. The former chief conductor of the Sinfonieorchester returned to the orchestra for the concert tour. Garrett shone with his interpretation of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op.35 by Peter Tchaikovsky and also delighted with his encore, an improvisation on the melody, “My hat, it has three corners”. The audience avidly applauded and cheered and the critics were also wowed by Garrett's performance. Additional concerts take place on March 23rd in Bregenz, on March 24th in Pavia and on March 26th in Padua .
