La Cetra and Patricia Petibon with a new CD under the baton of Andrea Marcon

Read some rave reviews of "Nouveau Monde":

CD of the week on Deutschlandradio Kultur
By Mascha Drost

"Whether it be a renaissance traditional, a baroque opera aria or a romantic art song – indeed it is always a Nouveau Monde, a new world, that can be discovered here with Patricia Petibon and the La Cetra musicians: intensely imaginative, fantastic soundscapes – impressively played and impressively sung.”

CD of the week on NDR Klassik

"In Petibon's interpretations, European melodies and South American rhythms are blended together. This kind of baroque crossover is not entirely new but is presented here together with the La Cetra Baroque Orchestra under the baton of Andrea Marcon to great effect. Their excursion to a new (to them) and old genre world was quite audibly worth it.”

Baroque transformed

"In this context, Patricia Petibon together with the harpsichordist and conductor, Andrea Marcon, compiled together an extraordinary program that juxtaposes traditional songs such as “J'ai vu le Loup”, “Greensleeves” or “Tonada El Congo a voz y bajo para bailar cantando” with arias from  Marc-Antoines Charpentier's “Medée”, Henry Purcell's “Dido and Aeneas” or the “Danse du Grand Calumet de la Paix” by Jean-Philippe Rameau. A Zarzuela by José de Nebra from 1744 meets a Pasacalle by Henry Le Bailly from the 17th century and even a rarely-performed secular cantata in Spanish by Georg Friedrich Handel that was composed by the Master in 1707 for the Cardinal Ottoboni is included in the program. This acoustic journey is bound by Patricia Petibon's captivatingly-clear and mesmerizing soprano on the one hand and on the other, by the perfectly-harmonizing soloists, the La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel ensemble members and the La Cetra Vokalensemble under the baton of Andrea Marcon.”
