Top class sound - Lisa Batiashvili with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra

On 9 and 10 January 2024, Lisa Batiashvili was a guest of the Munich Philharmonic under the direction of Zubin Mehta.

She performed Johannes Brahms' Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with Gautier Capuçon - an experience that the audience at the Isarphilharmonie will not soon forget:

"The violinist caresses the ear with her sensitive and lavish tone, while the cellist adds a spicy element with his characteristic viola da gamba-like timbre. For all their individuality, the two harmonise with each other so carefully in terms of sound that is rarely heard in this idiosyncratic work. An entire string quartet sometimes seems to be playing, seamlessly integrated into the tutti of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra." (Abendzeitung Munich, 10.01.2024, Michael Bastian Weiß)

"However, the double concerto for violin and cello, for which Lisa Batiashvili and Gautier Capuçon, a duo trained in chamber music, were also performed on an equal footing, devoting themselves to the work with great attention to detail. [...] There was always concentrated eye contact between the conductor's podium and the two solo instruments, which - in the spirit of Brahms - seemed to merge into one voice at times, but at the same time provided ample opportunity for the two soloists to play together." (BR Klassik, 10.01.2024, Tobias Hell)

The audience can look forward to a reunion on 14 and 15 January 2024 - with Brahms' Violin Concerto.
