Jean-Yves Thibaudet Awarded the Title of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur
We are delighted to announce that pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet has been named Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur, France’s highest national honor. The honor was presented by French President Emmanuel Macron during a ceremony at the Palais de l’Élysée in Paris.
Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Légion d’honneur is awarded to individuals recognized for their contributions to France. Thibaudet received the honor in recognition of his international career and his contribution to the promotion of French culture and music worldwide.
Following the ceremony, Jean-Yves Thibaudet wrote on social media:
“Growing up in France, you understand that art is vital to our culture. You could even call it our civic duty. My parents saw to it that my education in Lyon and in Paris gave me a strong foundation as both an artist and a citizen, and although I have lived in the United States for many years, this philosophy of life remains at the very core of my being. I am beyond touched that President Macron believes my art reflects so positively on our Republic, and I am proud to continue to represent France as an artist in my travels around the world.”
We warmly congratulate Jean-Yves on this exceptional honor and are proud to celebrate this important recognition of his artistic achievements and enduring connection to French culture.
