On April 9th, 2022 Jean Rondeau was a guest at the Heidelberger Frühling. In the Königssaal of Heidelberg Castle, the harpsichordist interpreted the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. The audience thanked him for this intense, inspiring concert with a standing ovation!

In July 2022, Jean Rondeau will return to Germany with this programme: he can be heard at the Rheingau Musik Festival on 17 July and at the Mosel Musikfestival on 30 July.

"It seemed as if the musician created the music just now, as if it came to him at this very moment, himself still unsure in which direction it would continue." (Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, 11.04.2022, Matthias Roth)

"The stupendous fluency of his fingers, the immense imagination of the ornaments that go far beyond the score, the stylistic certainty and at the same time high, almost artistic virtuosity of his rendition, of which one knows exactly that one will never hear it exactly like this again (since the artist himself will never play it exactly like this again), all this makes Rondeau's performance in the Königssaal a singular event. [...] The ease of articulation and musical inspiration of his playing are striking, even if he goes through some variations with great risk." (Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, 11.04.2022, Matthias Roth)

Jean Rondeau "approaches the famous opening aria with a small improvisation, which he endows with dazzling changes of lighting and register. Later, too, his playing is finely balanced, the basses, for example, sometimes contoured and slender, sometimes with a flatness that tends towards background noise. [...] Probably the most beautiful, most splendid substitute for silence there is." (Mannheimer Morgen, 11.04.2022, Hans-Günter Fischer)
