Violin Star David Garrett dazzles with Tchaikovsky in Aachen

On Sunday, September 3rd, 2017, David Garrett gave a concert in his hometown of Aachen – for the first time in over twelve years. The violin star performed the illustrious violin concerto by Peter Tchaikovsky to a sold-out crowd at the Kurpark Classix. Accompanied by the Sinfonieorchester Aachen, Garrett displayed his virtuosity and wowed his listeners.

Critics were also impressed: “With a smile, he stands next to the podium, the concert begins, Garrett assumes the posture, staggers his stance, stable yet mobile. Within the first bars, he delves deeply into Tchaikovsky's work, a work that is both hailed and feared by many a virtuoso. No question about it, as a seasoned virtuoso with a palpable joy for detail, Garrett both technically and artistically masters every facet. Powerful “strokes”, soft-fingered sequences, silken melancholy, and violent emotional upheavals – Garrett lets his violin sing and sigh, eliciting the unbelievable time and again, and assuring that pulse rates are raised.” (Aachener Zeitung, Sept. 5Th, 2017)
